Is your Landbot chatbot EU AI Act ready?

Article 50 asks that visitors know they are talking to an AI. Scan your site free, and read below exactly where that notice goes in Landbot.

Landbot and Article 50, briefly

Landbot builds conversations as a series of blocks, and the first block of a new bot is a message block by default. That is convenient: there is exactly one place where the conversation starts. Landbot also frequently runs as a full page rather than a bubble in the corner, and then different rules apply to where you make the notice visible.

What our scans found on Landbot sites

We have not yet scanned enough sites where Landbot was the first widget we detected to say anything meaningful here. As soon as the sample is large enough it will appear, counts included. We would rather publish nothing than a percentage based on two sites.

How we detect Landbot

Our scanner looks for these signals on your public page. Two independent signals are required for a match, so a blog post that merely names the vendor does not count.

Where the AI notice goes in Landbot

The first block of your bot is a message block by default, so put the sentence there, ahead of the first question you ask.

  1. 1

Open your bot in the Landbot builder.

  2. 2

Select the first block, usually a message block.

  3. 3

Put the AI notice in that block, ahead of the first question.

  4. 4

Using Landbot as a full page? Put the sentence at the top of the page too.

  5. 5

Hit Build and then Publish; saving alone is not enough.

The sentence you paste

You are chatting with an AI assistant, not a person.

The welcome message only appears after opening. The banner snippet from the Compliance Kit covers the moment before that with a single script tag, and your AI transparency statement covers the question that comes after.

Watch out with Landbot: Landbot flows start as soon as the widget opens, so the first block is exactly the right place.

What goes wrong most often with Landbot

Three mistakes we run into on sites that did set the notice. Each one costs points in the scan, and each one takes minutes to fix.

Checking that it works in Landbot

Open the live URL of your bot rather than the builder preview: those two can run different builds, and the preview always shows your latest edit. Use an incognito window, because Landbot stores a visitor's progress and will otherwise drop you back mid-flow. Read the first block and check that the notice sits above the first question and not below it. Running Landbot as a full page, also check that the line above the bot is visible without scrolling.

After that you can scan again. Our scan looks at the same public page a visitor does, so what you see in an incognito window is roughly what we see.

Two dates

  • 2 August 2026: the transparency duty on interaction (Article 50) applies.
  • 2 December 2026: marking AI-generated content becomes relevant.

Frequently asked questions

We use Landbot as a full page.

Set the notice in the first block and at the top of the page itself. The banner snippet works there too, but a plain line of text above the bot is clearer.

Rule-based, not AI. Does it apply?

The duty concerns AI systems interacting with people. A purely rule-based flow is arguable. The notice costs nothing and removes the argument.

Landbot connects to OpenAI. Does that change things?

Yes, then the argument is over: answers are being generated. Set the notice in the first block and record which model you use in your AI transparency statement.

Running another widget as well?

Fix this for Landbot in about 15 minutes

The Compliance Kit contains a copy-paste disclosure banner (NL/EN/DE), an AI transparency statement, an AI system inventory and a step-by-step guide per widget.
